Fifth centenary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death

On the occasion of the 500 anniversary of the death of the florentine renaissance genius Leonardo Da Vinci, this 2019 will take place different exhibitions in Italy, France, England and also Spain. Take note!

The exhibition will focus on the Louvre’s own collection, the most important Da Vinci collection in the world with five paintings. The exhibition, coordinated with the Art Institute of Chicago, will link his work with the tradition of modernity, cubism, expressionism and abstraction, among other movements influenced by his work. This temple of art has the honor of hosting in the autumn of 2019 an impressive collection of paintings by the Italian artist.

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, the exhibition brings together more than 200 of the greatest drawings by the Renaissance master in the Royal Collection,  making the largest exhibition of Leonardo’s work in more than 65 years. The Buckingham Palace will breathe the essence of the Renaissance painter from 24th May to 13th October.

This emblematic building in Milan has had one of the greatest treasures of Da Vinci’s work under its roof since 1637: the Codex Atlantic, a 1,119-sheet notebook containing drawings and writings by the artist on subjects such as music, weapons, mathematics and botany.

In the heart of Tuscany stands Vinci, the city that saw the birth of the great figure of the Italian Renaissance. And as it could not be otherwise, the locality joins the commemorative act.
The Leonardiano Museum, dedicated to research into the artist’s technical work, houses the oldest collection of models by the Italian engineer, made up of more than 80 wooden reproductions and digital animations.

Concording with the 5th Centenary of the death of Da Vinci, from 29 November to 19 May, Madrid hosts the exhibition Leonardo da Vinci: the faces of genius. Through images, infographics, interactives, audiovisual elements and virtual or augmented reality, the multiple facets, dreams, achievements and failures of the Renaissance genius will be presented.
